High definition telecine transfers direct to hard drive
Our tapeless transfers are direct to drive and provide the FCP user with ready-to-edit uncompressed 1920 x 1080/24p (23.98sF) 10-bit QuickTime MAC files or compressed  DVCPRO HD QuickTime 1920 x 1080/24p (23.98sF)  files. We've recently added options to deliver your material in ProRes 422 files or in PAL. When you order tapeless you avoid the necessity to buy or rent a deck just to get your high def material into your MAC. You now have 3 options for file transport. If you choose to use one of our drives, files arrive on our Bonolabs external hard drives that may be borrowed for three days. You offload the material and send the drives back to us. You may also purchase a drive or SATA hot swappable trayless enclosure from us and enjoy a reduced per minute tapeless service fee. For those who want to send in their own drives, your service fee is slightly higher, to reflect the increase labor time for formatting and verification of data required.

The telecine transfers are best light, flat, or scene-to-scene with a choice of three display modes: 16x9 full frame with cropping, 4x3 with pillarbox, or 16x9 inverse anamorphic (fat HD). See our tapeless section for more details. We can transfer 35mm, Super16, 16mm, Super8 or Regular 8mm film. The prices for the tapeless transfers are available under “Prices and Services.” Our lab pioneered the direct to drive service in 2004. Our best light and flat telecine  services based on runtime not labor or suite time. Please note that our scene-to-scene transfers are charged based on the actual time to perform the transfer. See our scene-to-scene page for a description. Our drives have traveled as far as Australia and Japan and have contained new Super16 features, re-release 35mm features, new independent vision shorts, footage incorporated into feature documentaries, live-action background material for animation, Super8 music video material, and home movie transfers ordered by forward thinking families.

We also offer cross converts, upconverts, and masterout to tape services.

Test drive program
Designed to allow you to test the functionality of your system to handle our hi def clips before sending in film for a hi def transfer, you may select various options for a nominal fee each. The test clips are sent out on one of our mini drives.

Purchase and load solution: external solution
Sometimes clients need to purchase an external drive before they can proceed to work with the files we send. We offer the option for clients to purchase SATA drives on which to load their files. Repeat customers are welcome to send their drives back for more files and enjoy a reduction on the drive service fee from $2.40 to $1.60 per runtime minute.

Purchase and load solution: SATA/Long-term storage and SATA drive modular shelving.
We've been listening to our clients with lengthy projects and long-range storage needs. We've been tweaking our services and products.
